RYAN GIGGS' brother has blasted the footballer's eight-year affair with his wife as an act that "demolished" his family.

     

Despite Ryan's attempts to cast off the ultimate betrayal as "just sex", Rhodri Giggs has revealed how it led to divorce and a three-year silence between the brothers.
Telling his story in an upcoming documentary to air next week, Rhodri also explained the spineless way in which he learned of the infidelity.
The young sibling of the Manchester United assistant manager said: "Natasha had done a disappearing act one day, I’d been playing football at Old Trafford, came home and fallen asleep early and woke up at 3am and she wasn’t home.
"At 6am her mum knocked on the door with a paper and a letter. That’s how I found out, from reading the News of the World with her mum sitting next to me.
"I phoned him [Ryan] saying, 'Is it true?' but he denied it. I didn’t know what to believe.
"You’ve got two people here you supposedly trust and you want to believe both of them.
"But Natasha showed me texts, pictures Ryan had sent of himself. Messages that I sent on to him.
"He told me, 'It meant nothing, it was just sex.' He’d demolished my family over sex. Well done, cheers bro."

The front-page scandal led to Natasha securing a housemate slot on Celebrity Big Brother 9, during which time she was still trying to make her marriage work.
However, the pair – who wed in 2010 – later split after she filed for divorce in 2013.
The former estate agent, who admitted to terminating Ryan's baby while married, now has a nine-month-old son with new partner Mike Smith. She also has two boys with Rhodri.
On Twitter, she now calls herself simply Miss Natasha, with her picture banner declaring: "You deserve someone that's utterly obsessed with you."
Ryan and Natasha’s affair surfaced in 2011 after Welsh model Imogen Thomas spoke out on her fling with the former footballer.
At the time, Giggs took out a gagging order to prevent his name being published in the press.

It seems the sports star was not only trying to protect his reputation, but also his family, having wed long-term partner (and mother of his two children) Stacey Cooke in 2007.
However, his identity was revealed on social media, prompting a Scottish newspaper to print it as their front page. Controversially, Stacey has remained loyal by his side.
Speaking on the Channel 5 show, Rhodri added: "I wanted to keep my family together because what destroyed me, what made me so angry in my life is when my father left.

"I didn’t want that with my kids. It was difficult, I wanted to stay in that family but it just wasn’t going to work."
He concluded: "I haven’t spoken to him since it happened. I don’t care about an apology, I just want to get on with my life.
"That cloud will be over his head and her head. My conscious is very clear."

14 killed in Nigeria football centre blast

Fourteen Nigerian football fans were killed while watching a World Cup game on Tuesday after a suicide bomb attack in Damaturu, Yobe state.

The explosion occurred during the World Cup game between hosts Brazil and Mexico which ended in a 0-0 draw.
According to Channels TV, the bombers brought the explosives in a tricycle before exploding it at the viewing centre which also left about 26 fans injured and 15 others in critical condition.
Survivors are presently receiving treatment at the Sani Abacha Specialists Hospital in Damaturu with the incident being investigated by the Nigeria Police Force.
Prior to the start of the tournament, some states in the country had banned football viewing centres from showing any World Cup games in order to avoid attacks from the Boko Haram insurgents in the country's north east.

 

     

    

    

      

      

Arsenal are reportedly winning the race to sign Freiburg's young defender, Matthias Ginter, ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are also interested in the up-and-coming centre back.

Ginter has been a long term target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and the French boss sent his chief scout, Steve Rowley, to assess the 20-year-old over the weekend, as the Daily Mirror reported.

Rowley would have certainly been impressed with Ginter's displays, as the youngster starred in a crucial away victory for the relegation-threatened Freiburg yesterday in the German Bundesliga.

Ginter, who recently earned his first senior cap for the German national side, has been identified as future stalwart of the Arsenal defence and is set of follow in the footsteps of compatriot Per Mertesacker.

Manchester United, who are expected to be without both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand for next season, are also on the hunt for a new central defender and have been similarly impressed with Ginter's development in Germany.

However, Arsenal have a good relationship with Freiburg and are willing to meet their demands of £8 million for the assured defender. With Thomas Vermaelen expected to leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer, Ginter would be the perfect understudy for Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

Enyimba got their Nigeria Professional football League campaign underway with a home win over Rangers at the Aba Township stadium on Sunday.

The People's Elephant overcame the ghosts of crashing out in the CAF Champions League a week earlier,by trouncing the Flying Antelopes 2-1 to secure all three points at home.

Enyimba toiled hard to break down Rangers,and had to wait till the 60th minute to find the back of the net.

Sibi Gwar opened the scores for Enyimba before Andrew Abalogu doubled the lead in the 76 minute.

However,Semiu Liadi scored an own goal in the 90 minute to give Rangers a consolation goal,but Enyimba saw out the game to secure all points.

Meanwhile defending champions of the league,Kano Pillars had to come from behind to force a 2-2 draw at home to Sunshine Stars.

Ezekiel Mbah opened the scores in the 33rd minute,but Dele Olorundare and Kingsley Eduwo struck for the visitors in the second half to give Sunshine the lead.

Sunshine looked like they were running away with all three points before Gambo Mohammed had to bail Pillars out in added time with a goal.

 Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has described his side's humiliating 3-0 loss to Liverpool as one of the darkest days in his playing career.

David Moyes' team performed below par and were swept aside by Brendan Rodger's team who were tactically stronger.

Steven Gerrard scored two penalties and Luis Suarez bagged the third as Liverpool comfortably defeated United in front of their home fans at Old Trafford.

"It's one of the worst days I've ever had in football," the United striker told MUTV.

"It's hard to take. You have to give Liverpool credit - they played well - but it's difficult to take. Nobody wants to lose, especially in this way, in your own stadium. It's not nice."

Rooney admitted they made it difficult for themselves conceding the first goal to Liverpool.

"To go behind by one penalty was hard to take," Rooney said. "We had a game plan for the second half, which went out the window when they got the second penalty so early on.

"It made it an uphill battle to come back. I thought after that we had a couple of chances where I thought if we got one we could have gone for a second and maybe we could have done it.

"Obviously it didn't happen, though.

"Then, to concede a third penalty, even though they missed, was a big blow to us. We were then chasing the game with 10 men. That made it difficult for us and they kept the ball well to see the game out."
