Adil Rami has been offered to Manchester United after his proposed move to AC Milan has fallen through.
The Frenchman is on loan at AC Milan at the moment but a view to a permanent move has fallen through, according to Mail Online.
He could join United this summer, as Nemandja Vidic prepares to leave Old Trafford for Milan’s rivals Inter.
Replacement
United are short in the centre of defence, with Ferdinand ageing and Vidic leaving the club, leaving just Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling as options in the heart of The Red Devils’ defence.
AC Milan and Valencia could not agree on a £10m deal for the defender but the French international could be a relatively cheap signing for United.
The Premier League champions will hope to bring in at least one new defender this summer, and improve on their league standing next season, set to be the lowest in the Premier League era.
Adil Rami
Rami has been at AC Milan since last October on loan and has been linked with a permanent deal.
The Frenchman played at centre back today as Milan made it five wins in a row with a 3-0 win over struggling Livorno.
He has played only fourteen times for the Italian club but has netted three times, which is a fairly decent return for a centre half.
But injuries have halted Rami’s season, and he is set to rejoin Valencia at the end of the campaign.
However, with United reportedly being offered the defender, it is becoming unclear as to where his future lies.
Rami would be an experienced signing for The Red Devils as the 28-year-old has played in the Champions League and Europa League as well as experience at international level.
