7 Players With Some of the Worst Teeth in Football

Brazil's Ronaldinho listens to a question during a press conference at Wembley Stadium in London on February 5, 2013 ahead of his team's international friendly football match against England on February 6

The modern day footballer is one who usually appreciates his looks, takes care of himself (partaking in excessive grooming), and cares more about having a good haircut than a good match-day performance.

However, there are of course some exceptions. There were many to choose from, but here are the 7 footballers with the worst pearly whites!

7. Ronaldo
Brazilian football star Ronaldo gives a press conference on the eve of the Brazil 2014 FIFA Football World Cup final draw, in Costa do Sauipe, state of Bahia, on December 5, 2013
Despite being, at one point, one of the most feared strikers on the planet, this does not make Ronaldo exempt from our list. As well as having a rather big belly, Ronaldo possesses one of the most famous gap-toothed grins on the planet.

6. Ronaldinho
Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho (L) warms up with teammate Leandro Castan during a training session at The Hive, Barnet FC's training ground in Edgware, London on February 5, 2013. Ronaldinho admits he did not expect to be recalled by Brazil, but says he believes the squad he has returned to possesses sufficient quality to win the 2014 World Cup on home soil. After a year in the international wilderness, the 32-year-old forward is expected to feature in Brazil's friendly game against England at Wembley on February 6, 2013
Another silky Brazilian with an impressive set of gnashers, Ronaldinho was rumoured to have a clause in his contract that meant he couldn’t fix his teeth due to their immense marketing value. Despite this slight setback in terms of his looks, Ronaldinho remains to this day one of the most loved footballers to ever grace the planet.
5. Tevez
Carlos Tevez of Juventus looks on prior to the UEFA Champions League Group B match between Juventus and FC Copenhagen at Juventus Arena on November 27, 2013 in Turin, Italy
A footballer known for his lavish contracts and refusal to play for teams after starting on the bench, Carlos Tevez seems the type to demand only the finest things in life.

However, the scars on his neck and unfortunate set of teeth say otherwise. Nevertheless, there is a story behind his refusal to amend these perceived ‘faults’ with his looks. Tevez’s teeth were damaged after a street fight when growing up in the violent town of Fuerte Apache, the same place he suffered third degree burns down his face, neck and chest due to an accident with boiling water at the tender age of 10.

The Juventus striker refused to have his teeth and scars improved cosmetically by Boca Juniors (the team he first played for professionally). He says he “won’t have plastic surgery. You either take me as I am or you don’t”, almost to say that his scars and broken teeth are essentially what define him as the man he is today and the road he took to achieve everything he has.
4. Ravel Morisson
Ravel Morrison of West Ham (R) avoids the tackle of Mousa Dembele of Tottenham during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United at White Hart Lane on October 6, 2013 in London, England
Without doubt one of English football’s greatest hopes for the future, Ravel Morrison has really shone for West Ham this season. However, his teeth tell a different story. On loan at Birmingham last season, the ex-Manchester United trouble maker had to have seven teeth removed. Whilst his implants were being made, the young playmaker had to wear temporary moulds. The whole operation cost the Hammers around £28,000, but if that is part of the reason for Morrison’s newly found form, it was definitely value for money!
3. Aly Cissokho
Cissokho of Valencia looks on before the UEFA Champions League group F match between Valencia CF and LOSC Lille Metropole at Estadi de Mestalla on October 2, 2012 in Valencia, Spain. Valencia won 2-0
The Valencia full back, on loan at Liverpool, could well have been plying his trade in Serie A with AC Milan several seasons ago if it wasn’t for his impressive set of incisors.  Cissokho was set to join AC Milan in 2009 from Porto for a hefty €15 million, subject to a medical. However, AC Milan pulled out of the transfer at the last minute due to a problem with the French left-back’s teeth, which doctors believed could be an indicator of future problems with his spine. Cissokho had to settle for Lyon, who offered the money, rushed the medical and signed the player.
2. Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez, an undoubtedly talented player, has never been one to shy away from controversy. He is regularly greeted by opposition fans with chants of “your teeth are offside”, until he usually silences them with a moment of brilliance (as he recently proved against Norwich). Suarez and his rat-resembling dentures have certainly left an impression on the Premier League (as the right arm of Chelsea’s Bransilav Ivanovic will vouch… pardon the pun).
1. Joe Jordan
Joe Jordan’s fearsome, never-say-die approach to the game came at a slight cost: losing his front four teeth whilst playing for Leeds. Imaginatively nicknamed Jaws after the James Bond villain, Jordan would remove his dentures before every game and quite frankly we’re surprised he didn't lose any more!
