England rugby legend Martin Johnson handed driving ban after speeding at 103mph
ENGLAND's World Cup-winning rugby captain Martin Johnson has been banned from driving.
The 43-year-old was caught speeding at MORE THAN 100mph earlier this year.
He was pulled over by police on the M5 in Somerset on August 13.
Johnson, who led England to World Cup glory in 2003, was today disqualified at Taunton Magistrates' Court.
A spokeswoman for the court confirmed: "Mr Johnson was travelling at 103mph on the M5 between junction 23 and 22 at Puriton in Somerset.
"Mr Johnson entered a guilty plea at the earliest opportunity.
"He was fined £800, costs of £35 and a victim surcharge of £80. He was also disqualified from driving for 49 days."
Johnson was appointed England manager in 2008.
But he resigned following a disastrous World Cup in New Zealand in 2011
Road safety campaigner Jane Hofmeister - whose 13-year-old daughter was killed by a speeding driver - blasted Johnson's behaviour.
"It isn't a good example from somebody in the public eye," she told the Bridgwater Mercury.
"Speed kills - end of. We have speed limits for a reason."
