CUTTED! David Haye calls off Tyson Fury battle after gash needs 6 stitches

The Londoner needed six stitches to the wound sustained in a sparring session.
Yet
the news brought a bizarre reaction from the Fury camp with his uncle,
Peter Fury, saying: “Tyson thinks it’s 100 per cent manufactured. And I
want to move on and look forward to the next fight.”
It
is the second successive fight Haye has been forced out of after a
hand injury scrapped his bout with Syrian Manuel Charr – scheduled for
June 29 – in May. Haye’s trainer and manager Adam Booth last week met
German promoter Kalle Sauerland, whoseheavyweight Alexander Povetkin
challenges Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko for three of the world titles
in Moscow on October 5.
If Russian Povetkin
upsets the odds against WBA-WBO-IBF champion Klitschko, Haye will be
offered a shot against the new champion.
But Fury’s promoter Mick Hennessy insists Haye cannot walk away from rescheduling the fight later this year.
WBC king Vitali, 42, has yet to announce his future
plans and could retire for a career in politics – but recently spoke
about the possibility of fighting Haye.
If
either fights become a reality for Haye in the next two weeks, it would
KO the prospect of fighting Fury this year. But Hennessy believes the
former WBA champion cannot walk away from a rescheduled fight with this
6ft 9ins Manchester rival.
Hennessy is
uncertain whether unbeaten Fury, 25, will have an interim fight before
a new date with Haye, which he hopes will be in December.

“He has really done some talking and for that reason he can’t just walk away, he needs to back it up.
“There was the toe injury with Wladimir Klitschko and he doesn’t want to walk away from the game with this incident hanging over him, too.
“We want it to happen as soon as possible but I’m thinking it would probably be around mid-December.”
Haye, 32, had been tipping a second round win over Fury and hoped it would increase his chances of a rematch with one of the Klitschkos.
The Londoner told the Daily Star Sunday: “Gutted isn’t even the word. Mentally, I’m on the floor right now. I’m devastated for my loyal fans, my family and my team, as well as Tyson Fury.”
