Sir Alex Ferguson tries to make peace with Rooney to put stop to Arsenal or Chelsea move
SIR ALEX FERGUSON reckons Wayne Rooney is back to his best after a summer of uncertainty.
Chelsea and Arsenal both wanted to buy Rooney in the summer but Manchester United refused to sell.
The striker was understood to want out of Old Trafford after his relationship with Ferguson deteriorated last season.
Rooney
is out of contract in 2015 and Fergie, who is now a director at Old
Trafford, has lavished praise on the man he was rumoured to have fallen
out with.
Ferguson said: "On Tuesday night [against Bayer Leverkusen] they were terrific.
"Wayne's performance was fantastic, I was pleased to see that.
"He's got his energy back, the determination, his purpose to attack players - it was all very encouraging to me.
"Being a director I'm delighted to see that, he's back to what we always remember."
