Borrussia Monchengladbach Confirm Luuk de Jong is on His Way to Newcaslte
Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed via their official Twitter account that Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is on his way to Newcastle to undergo a medical and complete his proposed move to Tyenside.
The club tweeted,
"Luuk de Jong will not be training with the team today. The striker is on his way to Newcastle for his medical."
As of yet, no details have been released as to whether this a loan deal, a permanent one, or even a swap deal of some sort.
The Daily Mail thinks that Newcastle and Gladbach were close to agreeing a swap deal that would involve Senegalese striker Pappis Cisse heading to Germany with de Jong joining Alan Pardew's side in a straight swap deal.
Newcastle have had de Jong on their radar before and tried to sign the Dutch international a couple of summers ago, before he chose to join to Gladbach instead.
His time in Germany has not been what he had hoped, as he failed to find his best form and now has apparently fallen out of favour with Gladbach's manager Lucien Favre.
Newcastle are preparing to lose Yohan Cabaye to PSG as the two clubs agreed a fee for the French midfielder late last night.
