Monaco's Lacina Traore in Liverpool for Medical
Lacina Traore is set to have a medical at Everton today, ahead of a loan move from Monaco.
It
had been thought that Traore would go to West Ham, with the London club
having agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 club and even applied for a work
permit for the Ivory Coast international, according to BBC Sport.
However,
West Ham boss Sam Allerdyce has now said that there's little chance of
Traore joining the Hammers, saying "[Everton] can apply for the work
permit now."
Traore only signed for Monaco from Anzhi
Makhachkala at the start of the month, the latest victim of backer
Suleiman Merimov's tightening of the purse strings at the Russian club.
The
Ivory Coast man would be the tallest outfield player in the Premier
League, at a towering 6 foot 8 inches. The only man on these shores to
match him would be Costel Pantilimon, City's backup keeper.
Traore's
height would add an extra dimension to Everton's strike force in their
bid to bring European football to Goodison Park.
He
would also be the fourth loan player at the Merseyside club, joining
Gareth Barry, Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku. Some Everton fans are
questioning the sustainability of the tactic, but it's certainly working
well for them this season, as they lie 6th in the league with the
chance to go 4th if they win their game in hand.
