Thibaut Courtois: Chelsea Return 'Not the Healthiest Thing'
On-loan Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says a return to Chelsea next season would be "not the healthiest thing," given the form of Petr Cech.
The 22-year-old has spent the last three seasons at the Vicente Calderon and is unsure where he will end up after the summer, with the Czech international seemingly in his way at Stamford Bridge.
"Things are unclear at the moment," the Belgian told BBC Sport.
"The two of us want to play everything. Nobody will be happy to play in only the League Cup or FA Cup."
Courtois says that Cech's performances, which saw him named in the PFA Team of the Year this season, may mean he is better off playing his football elsewhere again next season.
"I have the biggest respect for Petr Cech. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world so I think putting him and me in the same team is not the healthiest thing in the world.
"We will see in the next week if we can sit together with Chelsea to find something for next year, find out what they want, what my desire is. We will see."
The former Genk goalie, who lifted the La Liga title with Atletico on Saturday, faced his parent club in this year's Champions League semi-final and played a key role in knocking out Jose Mourinho's men.
"It was strange and weird knocking out Chelsea," said Courtois.
"Normally when you win a semi-final you celebrate really hard but I didn't do it because Chelsea bought me and gave me the opportunity to play for Atletico for three years.
"I think I showed respect to the Chelsea players and supporters and they to me. It was a nice feeling and hopefully I can give them those things back in the future."
He is set to face Real Madrid in Saturday's Champions League final and would ideally want to sort out his future before jetting off to Brazil next month, with the Belgian national team.
