Arsenal have been handed a major boost with the news that neither Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain nor Kieran Gibbs will serve a ban, after the debacle that occurred at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

 Oxlade-Chamberlain handled the ball on the goal-line after an Eden Hazard shot, despite the ball seemingly going wide. However, Andre Marriner decided to award the penalty anyway, but stunned Arsenal when he sent off Kieran Gibbs instead.

Despite Chamberlain reiterating that it was in-fact him who committed the offence, Gibbs was the one who went for an early bath. Marriner issued an apology afterwards and the FA have now confirmed neither of the player will serve a ban.

The FA's statement read:

"An Independent Regulatory Commission today heard two claims from Arsenal, one of mistaken identity and the other of wrongful dismissal, both in relation to Saturday’s game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"The Commission ruled that the dismissal of Kieran Gibbs was a case of mistaken identity and transferred this to his team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"Subsequent to deciding this matter, the Commission then considered Arsenal’s claim for wrongful dismissal in relation to Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"This claim was upheld meaning Oxlade-Chamberlain will not serve any suspension with the standard punishment withdrawn with immediate effect."
