Gary Barlow plus host of celebs and footie legends record new World Cup anthem

TAKE THAT star Gary Barlow teamed up with a host of other celebrities and former footballers to record England’s official World Cup song.

Gary, 43, was joined for the session by a squad which included Kimberley Walsh, 32, Katy B, 24, and Emma Bunton, 38, along with World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst, 72, and fellow England legends Michael Owen, 34, and Gary Lineker, 53.
They got together in London yesterday to film the video for the as-yet unnamed track. It will be shown on Sport Relief night on BBC One on March 21, with the single released later.

World Cup Willie – 1966 World Cup
Crooner Lonnie Donegan sang the ditty celebrating the World Cup mascot and England were inspired to lift the trophy on home soil.
The lyrics: “He’s tough as a lion and never will give up, that’s why Willie is favourite for the cup.”
Back Home – 1970 World Cup
The squad topped the charts for three weeks. But they failed to bring the cup home from Mexico, being knocked out in the quarter-finals by West Germany.
The lyrics: "Back home. They'll be watching and waiting and cheering every move. Back home.”

 
This Time (We’ll Get It Right) – 1982 World Cup
Kevin Keegan and co got to No 2 with their rousing tune, but flopped in Spain.
The lyrics: “This time, more than any other time, we’re going to find a way.”
We’ve Got The Whole World At Our Feet – 1986 World Cup
It didn’t catch on, as Diego Maradona’s Hand Of God for Argentina saw England leave Mexico in the quarter-finals.
The lyrics: “We’ve got the whole world at our feet, there ain’t a single team that we can’t beat.”
World In Motion – 1990 World Cup
The chart-topping New Order track featured winger John Barnes rapping, and England’s tournament saw Gazza’s tears and semi-final heartbreak against Germany on penalties.
The lyrics: “You’ve got to hold and give, but do it at the right time, you can be slow or fast, but you must get to the line.”
“Three Lions saw comics Frank Skinner and David Baddiel team up with the Lightning Seeds”
Three Lions – Euro 96
The unofficial song saw comics Frank Skinner and David Baddiel team up with the Lightning Seeds. It shot to No1 as England lost in the semi-finals to Germany on penalties…
The lyrics: “It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming, football’s coming home...”
(How Does it Feel to be) On Top Of The World? – 1998 World Cup
England United, a supergroup featuring the Spice Girls, performed the official song, but, like David Beckham’s red card and England’s second-round exit to Argentina in France it was probably best forgotten.
The lyrics: “How does it feel, to be on top of the world? now it’s for real, you’re on top of the world.”
We’re On The Ball – 2002 World Cup
TV duo Ant & Dec’s song made it to No3 in the charts, which was better than England who got knocked out in the quarter-finals by Brazil.
The lyrics: “Gerrard to Beckham, Beckham to Heskey, Heskey to Owen, it’s a goal. We’re on the ball, we’re on the ball, we’re on the ball.”
World At Your Feet – 2006 World Cup
Embrace’s song also made it to No3, and England were knocked out in the last eight in Germany by Portugal.
The lyrics: “With the world at your feet, there’s no-one you can’t beat.”
Shout – 2010 World Cup
Dizzee Rascal and James Corden reached No1 but England crashed out against Germany in the last 16.
The lyrics: “Come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough!”
