 Nigeria's Super Eagles twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw in their international friendly game against Scotland on Wednesday night in London.

The game had question marks before even a ball was kicked,following investigations by the National Crime Agency into allegations of a possible match-fixing.

Scotland went in front in the game through Charlie Mulgrew's wonderful back heel to give the Tartan Army the lead.

Stephen Keshi got a first hand view of some of the players he drafted newly into the team,and those who have been out for some time.

With the players Nigeria paraded,it was obvious Keshi was giving some players a run-in to prove that they merit a place in the final team.

The Super Eagles tried to calm proceedings,spreading the ball nicely like they would always want to do,but they never bossed Scotland.

However just minutes to the end of the first half,Michael Uchebo saw his good strike outside the box take a deflection to beat McGregor and equalise for Nigeria.

Signs of improvement by Nigeria,and it was expected they would capitalize on the impressive climax into the second half,even Shola Ameobi had a good chance to put the Super Eagles in front but his effort was ballooned over the post.

Nigeria was left chasing the game just into the second half,Azubuike Egwueke put the ball past his own keeper Austin Ejide to give the Scots the lead.

Keshi made some changes and threw on new players: Osaze Odemwingie,Victor Moses,Nnamdi Oduamadi and Uche Nwofor to inject pace and urgency.

Nwofor particularly impressed,running down the channels and chasing for every ball and he was duly compensated getting the equaliser for Nigeria in the last minute of regulation time.

Maybe with the goal and his desire,Keshi would be considering taking him to Brazil because the former under 20 striker has had a good return in the Super Eagles set-up,three goals in five matches.

Keshi with the game now has an idea some of the players he will drop from the final 23-man list and those who will make his team.

With the team jetting off to the United States for another round of camping,he has some time more to determine which player will still be in the team come the June 2nd deadline.

This will be Nigeria's third successive draw,and incidentally the first was a 2-2 draw against Italy at the same venue,Craven Cottage,and a 0-0 draw against Mexico played in the United States.

   

   

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that despite their promotion to the Premier League, French striker Loic Remy could be set to leave this summer for a fee in the region of £8million, according to The Daily Mail.
Various newspaper outlets have reported in recent weeks that Remy, who has been included in Didier Deschamps’ preliminary World Cup squad, wants to leave the club and return to the Champions League, something corroborated by Rangers boss Redknapp following the club’s promotion on Saturday.
Since his move from Marseille in January 2013, Remy has proved that he is capable of scoring goals in the Premier League; he netted six times for QPR in the few months before they relegated, before scoring 14 in 27 games whilst on loan at Newcastle United last season.

However despite Rangers defeating Derby County 1-0 on Saturday in the SkyBet Championship play-off final, Redknapp does not believe he will be able to call upon the French striker next season, as the Rs aim to survive.
Following the game, Redknapp said, as reported by The Daily Mail, ”I do not see Remy coming back and wanting to play. He talked about playing Champions League somewhere. I wouldn’t know what he’ll do, but I think he’s got a buy-out clause which is at a reasonable level.”
Remy’s buy-out clause was described by Redknapp as “not much more than we paid for him”, which was 10.5 million Euros as per Soccerway.com, which is roughly equivalent to a fee in the region of eight to eight and a half million pounds.

If Lukaku leaves, he will have to accept his Chelsea romance ended in bitter disappointment, with a failed spot kick against Bayern Munich in the Super Cup. Inter Milan’s Sporting Director, Peiro Ausilio has confirmed to the press that the club have offered Tom Ince the opportunity to sign for them now that his contract with Blackpool has come to an end.
Speaking yesterday, Ausilio said:

“It’s definitely not a done deal for Tom Ince,” he told a press conference on Saturday.
“He’s a young player with an expiring contract. Him coming to Inter is an intriguing possibility because his dad played here, but nothing’s been agreed yet.
“We’re waiting for him to give us an answer.”

Obviously, from Inter’s perspective, Ince offers a degree of excitement and intrigue, with his performances, both at club and England U21 level, provoking interest in him from a number of clubs across Europe.
With his father’s spell in Milan clearly adding to Inter’s curiosity, you would assume that a move to Italy would be something that the younger Ince would be extremely open to, but there is a sense amongst those in the game, that the midfielder is still lacking some of the attributes necessary to be properly successful at the top of the European game.
It seems we will also be offering Ince a contract, but for now, we have no way of knowing which way he’ll decide to go. Seriously though, who would chose Milan over Selhurst?

  

     

  

Manchester United will switch their full attention in the transfer market to signing Arjen Robben and Luke Shaw now that a £20m deal for Toni Kroos has reportedly been agreed.

A report by the Daily Mail claims that the deal for Kroos was actually in place whilst David Moyes was still in charge at Old Trafford. However, now new manager Louis van Gaal has approved the move, which will be formally completed when the transfer window officially opens in July.

It is believed Kroos, who was handed his debut senior season in the Bayern Munich first team under the management of van Gaal in 2010/11, is keen to link up with his former coach once more.

But United are not planning to stop with just Kroos. Now van Gaal is believed to have his eye fixed firmly on Arjen Robben. The flying Dutch winger was one of van Gaal's first Bayern signings when he became manager at the club in 2009 and, like Kroos, Robben very much enjoyed his time with the legendary coach. The two will also be working closely together in the Dutch national team over the next few weeks, which should give van Gaal plenty of opportunity to persuade Robben his future should be at Old Trafford.

Robben actually came close to joining United from PSV Eindhoven back in 2004, before he signed for Chelsea. The player had already met with Sir Alex Ferguson, however the move fell through when Roman Abramovich's chequebook gave PSV little option but to accept a far higher offer.

If those two players aren't enough for United fans to get excited about this summer, it is strongly believed that a £27m deal for Southampton's Luke Shaw is also now in place. The teenage full-back is currently with the England squad as he prepares for next month's World Cup, but an announcement about his transfer is rumoured to imminent.

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is thought to be the next name on van Gaal's wishlist, though negotiations have yet to get underway.

   

Liverpool are said to be lining up an ambitious move for Spanish star Pedro, according to the Mirror.

Brendan Rodgers is rumoured to have already approached Barcelona about a potential move for their star, inquiring about the forward's availability. Barcelona a reported to have responded well to the approach with the 26-year-old being available at the right price.

Rodgers is said to be looking for another top quality forward to add to the ranks which include Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling, and Pedro is said to be high up on a list of targets.

Despite still being relatively young, the Spaniard comes with bags of experience at the highest level. He has scored 14 goals in 37 games for his national side as well as winning top accolades such as the European Championship and World Cup with his country. 

His versatility will also be favoured by The Reds boss and the Barcelona man can play out wide and as an out and out striker. 

Pedro, along with teammates Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, were all missing from the launch of their new kit launch on Wednesday night, adding fuel to the rumours of the player’s departure.

Rodgers feels the Spaniard is yet to reach his prime, despite winning every accolade possible during his time playing for Barcelona and Spain, and believes that he could be the right man to lead Liverpool's Champions League charge next season.

LOUIS VAN GAAL will not be installed as Manchester United manager this week as his appointment continues to drag on.

      

The Dutchman has been lined up to replace David Moyes as the next full-time boss at Old Trafford.

United chief executive Ed Woodward had been hoping to confirm his appointment before the end of this week following further talks with him and Ryan Giggs.
Woodward and Giggs travelled to Holland yesterday to meet Van Gaal and discuss what will be the new coaching set-up at Old Trafford.
But the champions have decided to put his appointment on hold for at least 48 hours because minor contractual details have still to be ironed out.
United bosses have still to resolve the future of coach Phil Neville as well and this is leading to the hold up.
Neville is expected to leave United but has started negotiations about his severance package.
It is understood Van Gaal has agreed a deal worth around £7m-a-season to take charge after the World Cup in Brazil.
The former Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax boss has joined up with his Dutch squad to start his preparations for the tournament in South America.
But he has advised United on which players he wants to sign and will leave it to Woodward to strengthen the squad this summer.
Giggs has been offered the chance to become Van Gaal's No.2 but wants the futures of Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods resolved before an announcement is made.
It means supporters will have to wait even longer before discovering what has rapidly become the worst kept secret in football.

     

KID GALAHAD has vowed to become the greatest world champion to be rolled off the production line in Sheffield’s famous Ingle Gym.

     

The Steel City super-bantamweight, real name Barry Awad, takes on Australian Fred Mundraby in his hometown on Saturday night for the vacant Commonwealth title.
Galahad, 24, has already claimed the European belt in March with a points win over Spaniard Sergio Prado.
But he has set his sights on a much bigger title as he aims to become the latest world champion to come out of the Brendan Ingle gym in Wincobank, Sheffield.
Legendary trainer Ingle, 73, was the man who first introduced Qatar-born Galahad to the sport when he moved to Sheffield from Liverpool with his family at 13.
The Dublin-born boxing icon led Junior Witter, Johnny Nelson, Clinton Woods and Prince Naseem Hamed to world titles during a glittering career in the corner.
Ingle also trained Herol Graham, one of Britain’s best who never went on to win a world title.
He has since handed down control of the gym to his sons Dominic and John, who are overseeing the career of the undefeated Galahad.
The Sheffield super-bantamweight may not be the next world champion to come from the gym as Kell Brook is set to challenge for Shawn Porter’s IBF welterweight title this year.

     

But the ambitious fighter is planning to outshine all of Ingle’s previous stars, thanks to the early work of legendary trainer.
Galahad said: “From the age of 12/13 Brendan’s been telling me ‘If you want to be a great fighter, what you’ve got be in the boxing gym and do what we show you and what we tell you to do.’
“There are fighters like Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed and Junior Witter who have come through and been world champions in this gym.
“For me to be better than them I’ve got to out shine them and achieve more than they’ve achieved, so I have a hard graft in front of me.
“That’s the path I wanted to take from when I started boxing, that’s the path I’ve always said I want to take.
“I want to go out there and achieve more than these guys have achieved.
“My ultimate is to become a three or four weight world champion.”
Galahad, named by Ingle after the 1960s Elvis Presley film, knows he cannot overlook Mundraby, or his bold statement will look rather foolish.
He added: “It was only a few weeks ago that I had my last fight so I’m keeping the momentum going and everything is going good.
“We don’t have camps at this gym, we train like this all year round, training every day, so for me it’s just another day in the office.
“Fred Mundraby is the Australian champion, he’s tough, he’s ready, he’s fast, he’s tricky, he’s got every trick in the book and he’s coming to win.
“It’s another stepping stone to where I want to be and that’s a world champion and the Commonwealth title is a good title to have.”

Pound-for-pound king Mayweather, 37, is visiting the town as part of a series of after dinner speaking events around the UK.
Khan, 27, reckons Mayweather is only coming to his home town to wind him up, but is still set to confront him at his ￡200-a-seat dinner at the Reebok on June 23.

LEWIS HAMILTON admitted he wasn't faster than team-mate Nico Rosberg, but still won his fourth race in a row.

      

The British star claimed victory from pole position but grumbled throughout this Spanish Grand Prix that his car was not at its best.

Hamilton was constantly on his team radio complaining about oversteer, graining on his tyres, sluggish pit stops and the fact the rear of his Mercedes was sliding out in the corners.

But in the end none of it mattered as he held off a late challenge from Rosberg to climb to the top of the world championship standings.

"I know I wasn't fast enough. Nico was quicker, I struggled with the balance, but fortunately I was able to keep him behind," said Hamilton after taking the win by 0.6 seconds.

"I think I have a bit of work to do over the next few weeks, we struggled last year in Monaco and struggled at this race.

"I have to find out where I am losing the time and apply it the next race.

"By no means is it easy for me, I still have a massive challenge from Nico.

"I really had to rely on my engineers a lot more to give me the gaps and try to find where I could find time, also with my settings as I was moving them up and down, really trying to find extra time."

   

Rosberg was frustrated after his fourth successive second place behind his team-mate, with none of the other teams seemingly anywhere near being able to challenge for race wins.
Even at this early stage of the season, it seems certain that one of the Mercedes drivers will be world champion given their total dominance.
And Rosberg felt he needed just a couple more minutes to reel Hamilton in here at the Circuit de Catalunya after a change in tyre strategy helped him battle back from a five second deficit with about 20 laps remaining.
"I wasn't close enough (to try to overtake) but with one more lap I would have been," the German said.
"I'm a bit gutted. But this is a really difficult track to get close to the guy in front.
"I got close, and at turn 10 on the last lap I could have gone for a kamikaze move, but it wouldn't have worked so not much point."
Way behind the Mercedes battle Daniel Ricciardo sealed third place, with his Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel producing his best drive of the season to go from 15th to fourth.
Home crowd favourite Fernando Alonso snatched sixth two laps from the end ahead of the other Ferrari driven by Kimi Raikkonen.
But it was another miserable weekend for McLaren as they finished out of the points for the third successive race with Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen 11th and 12th.
Despite that, Button said: "I think we learnt something useful today. I'll be staying on here for next week's test, so hopefully we can learn a bit more again and make further progress.
"The test should be useful - not necessarily for Monaco, but for two or three races down the road.
"The midfield is extremely close, so even small improvements will make a difference."

ROY HODGSON has shown faith in his England young guns for the World Cup in Brazil.

      

Luke Shaw, Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling were all named in his 23-man squad this afternoon.
Michael Carrick, Andy Carroll, Kyle Walker and Ashley Cole miss out.
Carrick has paid the price for a poor season with Manchester United while West Ham striker Carroll has been named on the standby list after a season ravaged by injury.
Tottenham defender Walker sits out due to a pelvic injury.
As expected, 18-year-old left-back Shaw makes the cut ahead of Cole, who retired from international football last night after being told he had not made the squad.
Rickie Lambert, who has scored 14 goals this season, gets the nod ahead of Carroll.
Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, who now plays for Toronto FC, is only good enough for a place on the standby list.
Carrick rejected the chance to be on the standby list for Euro 2012 but he has accepted the same position this time around.

     

There was a place on the standby list for Everton teenager John Stones, who only made his first Premier League start in January. Uncapped Liverpool right-back Jon Flanagan was also on the standby list.
Those standby players will fly to Portugal with the squad next Monday for a week-long training camp.
Hodgson admitted the decision to leave out Cole was "an unbelievably hard" call.
He said: "Ashley is a player that I and the rest of my staff appreciate.
"He is a magnificent player and what he's done for England is second to none. Luke Shaw has had a wonderful season. He has captured headlines with his form and ability.
"One player has 107 caps and one has many caps to come. It was a hard job to ring Ashley and I can only be unbelievably grateful for the gracious way he accepted the decision.
"Circumstances will prove whether the decision to take the younger player was the right one or not."
While Hodgson's selection is notable for its youthful appearance, Chelsea's veteran midfielder Lampard - who turns 36 in June - has made the cut and will feature at his third World Cup.
"Frank is a very important part of our set-up and you shouldn't think about players in terms of age, but of position," Hodgson added.
"When you're in midfield you have many more positions to choose from.
"Frank has been captain on many occasions and has been vice-captain to Steven Gerrard.
"He still plays an important role for his club and we think his leadership qualities and his abilities will help us in the summer."
The inexperience of the England squad's newest members - including Sterling of Liverpool, who lost his place towards the end of the qualifying campaign - will not pose a problem in Brazil, according to Hodgson.
He added: "You get experience by getting the opportunity.
"It's wrong to focus totally on the fact there are those who are inexperienced because everyone is inexperienced until they get the chance to do the job.

     

"I think they've played so well and been so effective in their club teams that they've really imposed their ability on my thinking.
"I'm sure if I'd picked a squad after the final qualifier in October it would have looked quite different but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.
"You can't ignore what people are doing on a week-to-week basis and your decision is based on who is the best man for the job.
"In October I didn't think Raheem Sterling was having the impact he has had since."
Several England players have been struggling with injuries in recent months, including Rooney, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jagielka, but Hodgson said the only player whose fitness remains a slight concern is Manchester United defender Jones.
Hodgson also revealed that teenage Everton defender Stones - currently on the stand-by list - would replace Jones in the final squad if he does not recover from his shoulder problem in time.
The young charges may catch the eye with fans - but not with the bookies.
