Manchester United Target Koke Rules Out January Move From Atletico Madrid
Recent reports from Spain tell us that Atletico Madrid’s talented
midfielder Koke is not ready to leave his club during the January
transfer window.
According to the sports newspaper AS,
Koke is not willing to leave Los Colchoneros in the near future and he
has allegedly turned down all the offers he had received from foreign
teams including those from the Premier League.
Koke's
agent, Iñaki Espizua, stated that his player is very happy at Atletico
Madrid and that at the age of 21 he still wants to achieve greater
things with the club since he feels totally related to the club’s
charisma and identity.
Espizua has claimed that Koke
is proud about the offers that were made for him, but he feels
appreciated at Los Colchoneros and he does not intend to leave any time
soon.
Koke signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid
not too long ago keeping him at the club until 2018. The club’s board
claimed back then that his renewal was a prize for his outstanding
performances and for his loyalty to the club.
Koke is
definitely one of the most talented Spanish midfielders currently and he
is also one of the most interesting players in La Liga.
This
is definitely not good news for Manchester United’s boss, David Moyes.
The Scottish manager was in Spain last week to watch Atletico Madrid’s
match against FC Porto allegedly to check out on Koke.
However,
some English and Portuguese media claim that Moyes travelled to Vicente
Calderón stadium not to watch Koke, but to check out Porto’s French
defender Eliaquim Mangala and the Portuguese champions’ charismatic
captain, the former Argentinian international Lucho Gonzalez.
The
32-year old midfielder was in Moyes’s plans while he was at the helm of
Everton, but they never managed to agree a fee with the player’s former
club - Marseille.
Koke is surely a name to be erased
from David Moyes’s shortlist and it is definitely better for United’s
boss to start looking elsewhere. Atletico Madrid’s excellent campaign is
giving their players enough motivation to continue their career as the
current Copa Del Rey holders.
