his two strikes against Tottenham Hotspur move him up to fifth spot in our gallery of the league's all-time goal getters
Wayne Rooney has reached another milestone in his career by taking
his goal tally for Manchester United to 151 with a brace in the 2-2 at
Tottenham.
He is now the fifth highest Premier League scorer, with 164 including his strikes for boyhood club Everton.
A fresh-faced Rooney was the Toffees' second youngest ever player behind Joe Royle, who went on to manage the club.
But
it was his strike against Arsenal - when he became the youngest ever
goalscorer in the Premier League - that brought him wider acclaim in
October 2002.
A big-money move to Manchester United followed and
he scored a memorable hat-trick on his debut in their 6-2 thumping of
Turkish side Fenerbahce in September 2004.
The England man
was just 23 years old when he smashed through the 100 barrier with a
brace in Manchester United's five goal demolition of Wigan Athletic in
August 2009.
And at 28 years old, Rooney's two goals against Spurs have seen him leapfrog former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler into fifth spot in the all-time Premier League top scorers list. Who knows how many he could score by the end of his career.
