Atletico Madrid are open to a swap deal involving Diego Costa if Chelsea allow the Spanish side to tie goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois up to a permanent deal, according to the Daily Star.

Talks between the clubs reportedly took place last week in London and more are scheduled after the Champions League last 16 fixtures involving the clubs.

The report states that Atletico have given Chelsea two options in order to secure the signing of the Belgian goalkeeper. The first includes an £8 million fee for Courtois plus the services of the in demand Costa, who has a buy out clause in his contract of £32 million. With Chelsea looking for a top class striker the offer is bound to turn the head of manager Jose Mourinho.

An alternative would see Atletico pay £16 million for Courtois in a deal that takes star midfielder Koke in the other direction, but the first option may be more appealing for the Stamford Bridge club.

Chelsea face a conundrum regarding the future of Courtois, as three years as the Atletico number one have made him against coming back to Chelsea to provide cover for Petr Cech, although the club want to tie him down until 2019.

Courtois is open to a permanent move to Spain, with Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the goalkeeper.
