Eden Hazard has claimed that he is on track to become as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, saying he is at the same level as they were at his age, but admits he needs trophies to prove his class.

"I'm much younger than them. They have won things that I haven't,' he said. 'But I'm as good as they were at my age. If I want to be like them I need to win trophies"

The Belgian has been in superb form in recent weeks and has pushed Chelsea to the top of the Premier League, prompting his manager, Jose Mourinho, to label him the best player in England.

At 23 years old, Hazard is making his name as a world-class player at Stamford Bridge after establishing his credentials as one of World Football's hottest properties while plying his trade at Lille.

Ballon d'Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo, 29, has been a long time rival of four time winner Lionel Messi for some years, and won his first Ballon d'Or in 2008 at 23, the same age Eden Hazard is currently.

Hazard believes that he will be regarded in the same stratospheric level as Messi and Ronaldo, despite his doubters.

"I don't care what other people think about me, frankly. Ronaldo and Messi, the two best players in the world, are loved and hated. That's the way it is."

With the Europa League being his only trophy with the Blues, Hazard looks on track to add the Premier League to his medal haul this season.
