Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes his side lacked a cutting edge following a 1-1 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday night, according to BBC Sport.

Mourinho's men looked to be in control throughout the Champions League last 16 first leg clash in Turkey, but failed to capitalise during a first half they dominated. Though Fernando Torres gave the Blues the lead in the opening period, Chelsea failed to find the net for a second time, prompting Mourinho to claim that the first half was 'an opportunity missed.'

"Some other teams have three chances and score three goals. We have five and score one," said Mourinho.

"That's not a critique of the strikers but it's the profile of the team we have."

Chelsea were pegged back in Turkey by Galatasaray's Aurelien Chedjou and the second leg on March 18th remains in the balance.

"We create but when we arrive in the final third of the pitch, the correct pass and right movement is something we don't have," said Mourinho.

"We are paying for that. In the Premier League we are losing points and in the Champions League we could have had a different result."

Despite Mourinho's disappointment in failing to come away from the Turk Telecom Arena with a better result, he believed the second period was far more even and fair.

"In the first half it was an opportunity missed, in the second half it was a fair result. In the first half we were the best team, we had three or four chances where we should have been more effective and scored.

"In the second half, they put more pressure on us and we were more defensive. We were comfortable defensively but we conceded a goal from a corner, which I don't like and the players don't like."

Chelsea face three Premier League matches before the second leg takes place, starting with a trip to Fulham on Saturday.
