Manchester United Ahead of Chelsea in the Chase for Edinson Cavani
Manchester United have reportedly edged ahead in the race for lethal front-man Edinson Cavani.
Manchester
United and Chelsea have been reportedly battling for the £54million man
and it appears as though David Moyes' side have edged ahead in the
race, according to the Daily Mail.
Cavani
is disillusioned with life in Paris as he has been deployed in an
unfamiliar role. The Uruguayan international plays wider than he did for
Napoli, due to teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic's supreme form in the
middle.
Cavani has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a couple of
months now after reports emerged that he was unhappy with life in
France.
Manchester United look set to miss out on the
Champions League this season, but finances should be available according
to chief executive Ed Woodward.
Woodward said: "It's fair to say we are focused on strengthening the squad we are
looking at some players in the squad who we would perhaps look to sell
this summer.
"We wouldn't necessarily look to churn a significant number of players, because that can have a destabilising effect.
"Historically we have done three sales and three purchases each year
[on average] and it's possible we would do more than that [this
summer]."
