International football has always been dominated by South American teams, such as Brazil and Argentina, and they have produced some of the best players in the history of football. However, the past few years have seen European teams that weren't of high quality grow in class, dominance and reputation. Spain and the Netherlands have experienced a golden age, producing two squads of world-class players, and have been dominating International competitions for over six years.

Now, it is Belgium's time to shine with players such as Lukaku, Hazard, and Benteke performing to high levels at their clubs. What seems to be remarkable is that the majority of Belgium's squad have graced the Premier League with their presence and outstanding skills.

The Premier League is currently witnessing a shift with both Manchester clubs under new management, Tottenham enjoying a spending spree and Arsenal finally opening their wallets. Most remarkable, however, appears to be the number of the Belgian first team players at work within the League

Aston Villa managed to hold onto their top goal scorer, Christian Benteke, who hit the ground running by scoring four goals in seven appearances for the club this season. Belgium are incredibly lucky that their second choice striker, Romelu Lukaku, has been performing just as well on his loan spell at Everton. Scoring five goals in seven appearances and bagging one assist is exceptional for the 20 year old, who seems to be unstoppable at the moment.

The golden age for Belgium is well under way and it is clear that both Portuguese managers, Jose Mourinho and Andres Villas Boas (AVB), have identified this and jumped at the chance to sign some of the Belgian starlets. Chelsea have Lukaku and whizz-kid Eden Hazard but they have also added another Belgian, Kevin De Bruyne, to their roster. AVB is lucky to have acquired some of Belgium's senior players, such as Vertonghen and Dembélé, alongside  the 24-year-old summer signing, Nacer Chadli, who has made four league appearances so far.

Spurs and Chelsea aren't the only Premier League teams to be blessed with Belgians, with Liverpool's recent purchase of their new #1 Simon Mignolet. Arsenal and Manchester City have the two Belgian centre backs Thomas Vermaelen and Vincent Kompany, leaving Manchester United with the powerhouse Marouane Fellaini alongside Belgian born Adnan Januzaj.

This Premier League season will clearly have many twists and turns, making it almost impossible to predict who will finish in the top four. Nevertheless, what is clear is that the BPL’s burgeoning Belgian contingent will play a decisive role.
