Real Madrid's Sami Khedira Set for Chelsea Move
Sami Khedira could be nearing the end of his Real Madrid career with Los Blancos open to offers, according to Spanish reports.
The
26-year-old has been heavily criticised by sections of the Bernabeu
crowd recently and last week publicly slammed the club for selling close
friend Mesut Ozil.
Speculation about his future has since been rife, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all thought to be keen.
A move to Stamford Bridge, though, is Khedira's preference and would reunite him with former boss Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish giants are prepared to sell but will only listen to offers around the £40million mark.
Manchester United were close to signing the German during the summer but Madrid turned down a bid of £34m, the club confirmed.
But the Red Devils appear to have missed their chance with Chelsea now favourites to secure his signature.
The
midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2010 off the back of a series of
impressive displays at the World Cup in South Africa but has seen his
popularity among supporters dwindle.
And he has even
accused the Spanish media of making him a scapegoat for Madrid's
failings, suggesting his time at the club is drawing to a close.
Khedira
was signed by Jose Mourinho three years ago, and many believe the
Portuguese is in pole position to do so again when the transfer window
reopens in January.
