Rooney Sends Ferguson a Message About His Transfer Request That is Now Cleared Up
Wayne Rooney has thanked Sir Alex Ferguson for clearing up the
transfer saga request where many believed Rooney handed in a second
official transfer request in three years.
It seems that Rooney only ever voiced his frustrations to Ferguson and ‘asked away’ rather than handing in an official request.
The British media spun the story that he handed in the request, a story that was spurred on by Rooney’s silence.
After
his brilliant performance against Real Sociedad, Rooney admitted he
hadn’t talked to Ferguson since he retired and insisted he was enjoying
playing under David Moyes.
“Thankfully he’s come back and
corrected the story that I put a transfer request in and he’s gone back
and proven that I haven’t,” Rooney said.
“I
haven’t seen him since he retired, I’m happy under the new management.
I’m working to get results under David Moyes and his coaching staff so
that’s the main thing for me. The other stuff doesn’t concern me.
“I’m just happy playing my football at the minute. That’s the past, I’m looking forward to the future now.”
Rooney,
who turned 28 today, has always reiterated that he is just
concentrating on his football and it has shown so far this season.
“(My enjoyment comes from) the new coaches that have come in and it’s really like a new lease of life… We are working to try and be successful as a team. We have a lot of players who are hungry.
His sparkling form is something many Manchester United fans thought they would never see again but he has reinvented himself into the complete striker he was in his pomp.
“I feel good, I feel fit, (I’m) enjoying my football so hopefully I can score more goals and keep trying to be successful,” Rooney added.
“(My enjoyment comes from) the new coaches that have come in and it’s really like a new lease of life… We are working to try and be successful as a team. We have a lot of players who are hungry.
“The results haven’t been what we want, and that’s what we’re working to put right.”
Rooney’s comments about enjoying life under David Moyes are particularly good because his relationship with the Scot was a major concern ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford. However, so far, he has done nothing but get Rooney firing on all cylinders again to his credit.
This sort of form is what made Rooney indispensable from our team a few years ago and he has now worked himself into that position once again, something United are currently reaping the rewards of.
