Two Match Of The Year contenders in one night meant the capacity crowd more than got their money’s worth. Prince Devitt and Ricochet screamed from the card as a potential show-stealer since the day it was announced, and did not disappoint. Two young men at the peak of their powers. Extraordinary.

Another match which threatened to stamp itself all over the collective consciousness for some time to come was the meeting of Davey Richards, replete with broken nose from the previous night, and young NOAH standout, Kent’s Zack Sabre Jr.

This was beautifully paced, story-telling artistry. Qualified paramedic Richards was left bleeding from his nose, and clutching his left after a lightening arm bar. The returning Noam Dar put on a fine show with the crushingly credible Michael Elgin.

FT found ourselves wincing every time the prodigious young Scot bumped on his shoulder. Sha and Doug Williams was a real bruiser.

Grado teaming with Cabana against the surly Simmonz and Rampage Brown was something of comedic relief; the eight-man opener with the Swords, Ego, Haskins, Fake Ligero and the Riots whetted the whistle.

Our main event and the appearance of the legendary Bret Hart saw the place come unglued. Hiroshi Tanahashi was the star turn, but full credit to FT favourite Marty Scurll who played the seething disrespectful heel to the full.

The Flock of Seagulls hair helps enormously with that. Many folk say that signs augur well for the British industry, and FT is in full agreement. Patience, self-belief and perseverance will reap rewards.
