Ranking the Top 5 Goalkeepers in the Premier League

Tim Krul the Newcastle United goalkeeper makes a save under pressure from Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United at White Hart Lane on November 10, 2013 in London, England
Following his man of the match performance yesterday, Alan Pardew claimed that Newcastle keeper Tim Krul is currently the best goalkeeper in the division.

Is this a biased opinion from the Magpies manager or will Krul make this list...

5. Tim Krul

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul celebrates the second Newcastle goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Cardiff City and Newcastle United at Cardiff City Stadium on October 5, 2013 in Cardiff, Wales
He is not the best keeper in the league, but he is certainly up there. His inclusion in fifth place means the likes of Wojciech Szczesny, David de Gea, Simon Mignolet and Artur Boruc all miss out.

The Dutch stopper showed yesterday exactly why Barcelona showed an interest in him after single handedly keeping Tottenham Hotspur at bay to give the Magpies a vital away win. The 25 year old is in his fourth season of being the first choice keeper on Tyneside.

4. Joe Hart

England's goalkeeper Joe Hart is seen during a training session at Arsenal's training complex in London Colney on October 14, 2013. England are to play Poland in their last World Cup qualifying match at Wembley on Tuesday

On current form, Hart is obviously nowhere near the level he has been at in previous years. Yet it is hard to ignore the fact that the 26 year old has received the Premier League Golden Glove award for the last three seasons consecutively.

England's number one was key in guiding Manchester City to their maiden Premier League title two seasons ago and he has consistently been one of the best keepers in Europe. This current blip has been highlighted to make the former Shrewsbury Town stopper seem to be a liability, but it will likely just be a temporary dip in form.

3. Asmir Begovic

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic #1 of Stoke City works out on the field before the start of the game against the Houston Dynamo during the Dynamo Charities Cup at BBVA Compass Stadium on July 24, 2013 in Houston, Texas

Who knows where Stoke City would be if it were not for their Bosnian giant in goal. Asmir Begovic has saved the Potters on countless occasions and is probably the difference between the Potters being mid table side, as opposed to relegation contenders.

Stoke have managed to fend off interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in previous years, but many are predicting this to be the 26 year old's last season at the Britannia Stadium.

2. Petr Cech

Goalkeeper Petr Cech of Chelsea celebrates his team's 3-0 victory during the UEFA Champions League Group E match between Chelsea and FC Schalke 04 at Stamford Bridge on November 6, 2013 in London, England

There is no doubt that Petr Cech is reaching the back end of his successful career with the Blues, but that has not hampered the Czech Republic international's form with Chelsea. The 31 year old still remains one of the best keepers in the world and has been a mainstay behind the Blues' domestic and continental success over the past decade.

Cech, who signed from Rennes in 2004, must surely be considered one of the club's best ever signings in the Premier League and looks set to carry on between the sticks at Stamford Bridge for another few years at least.

1. Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park on November 03, 2013 in Liverpool, England

Some critics questioned Tottenham Hotspur's decision to sign Lloris at the start of last season, considering Brad Friedel was the established number one at White Hart Lane. In fact, the £10 million signing from Lyon started his Spurs career on the substitutes' bench.

However, the 26 year old soon became first choice keeper and has not looked back since. His stunning reflexes and prowess when he comes off his line is arguably unmatched in world football. The French international captain is the Premier League's top goalie.
