DAVEY GRANT has gone from self-confessed ‘homeless bum’ to the brink of a six figure UFC contract.

The Bishop Auckland bruiser will win his life-changing deal if he defeats Chris Holdsworth in Las Vegas on Saturday in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 18.
If Grant wins he plans to splash the cash on marrying his girlfriend, Sherrie Dobson.
Bantamweight Grant said: “There was a time when I didn’t have a job, I didn’t have a home and meeting the right woman and investing myself in MMA has changed my life.
“I really used to be a bum.
“She’s really different to me, I’m quite eccentric and I’m pretty loud and she’s really sensible and level, so she sorted me out a lot.
“I was useless, I think she’s really made a difference and made me the man I am today, honestly I respect her for it.”
Grant, 27, made this weekend’s final at Mandalay Bay Events Centre when semi-final opponent and Team Rousey team-mate Anthony Gutierrez failed to make the 135lb weight limit.
He said: “Fighting in the UFC is a dream come true and I want to make the most of it.
“I think Chris has a really solid ground game and good stand up. He comes from a great team and is going to be a tough guy to beat.”
Grant was livid that fans might think he got a free ticket the final when junk food lover Gutierrez was five pounds overweight.
Sacramento’s Holdsworth defended Grant and added: “He did get his free pass into the finals, but it didn’t anger me.
“People are going to say, ‘But he didn’t have to fight three times,’ and this and that, but it’s not his fault.
“For me, the champion’s road is the hardest road. I fought three times, and I earned my way into the finale.
“No one can take that from me. I’m not saying he didn’t earn it, but that’s just the way things happened.
“I definitely respect Davey. What happened isn’t his fault, and he truly wanted to fight. It just sucks that he didn’t get to fight and prove to people that he deserved to be in the finale.”
