Wrestling: Bret 'Hitman' Hart gives the low down on fans, stardom and Hulk Hogan
WHEN Bret “Hitman” Hart takes the time to sit down and speak to you, my advice is to shut up and listen.
“Hogan kicked the door open for everyone, but Hulk
didn’t really like to travel, he didn’t really like coming over to
Europe that much, he didn’t like travelling to India and all those other
countries.
“For me I loved that world expansion, and if you
followed that whole thing like I did for a number of years, you knew
the fans in England and Germany were just the best fans. I was lucky.
“I
was thinking about it earlier today. I don’t know what it was. Even
Vince didn’t know what it was. He used to say ‘Maybe it’s the greasy
hair’. Even when I was a bad guy with Jim Neidhart I had more fan mail
in those days.
“Vince couldn’t figure it out why I was so popular. I don’t necessarily know either, but I always had good matches here.”
One
thing is absolutely certain. Bret is welcome on our shores any time –
and FT will always take the time to meet him. What an honour. To recap on
Hell In A Cell for WWE, who are making their way here in the next week
or so, it seems that it’s back to a holding pattern.
Cena as champ
is fair enough, but he is clearly injured – well done to Alberto for a
good job this year. Orton winning after the HBK swerve with Trip and
everyone should surprise no-one.
Everyone seems to obsessed with
odds and wrestling however. Although FT is not a gamber, would have
loved to see the numbers in January on Goldust holding a WWE title again
in 2013…
