Woffinden to check into hospital
WORLD Champion Tai Woffinden will check into a private hospital this morning as he begins his road to recovery
And
even though he had a metal plate holding the two pieces of bone
together he caused more damage when he went flying into the fence at
last month’s Scandinavian GP in Sweden.
The second tumble bent the plate but Woffinden refused to have
surgery knowing it could cost him the world title if he missed the final
round. He will now have the operation in Derby and hopes to be fully
fit again before Christmas.
He said: “I’m in at seven in the
morning and they will take the plate out.”Surgeons will then decide
whether to put new metalwork in, depending on what they discover.
Woffinden, 23, added: “I’m in the air with what’s going on and I’m not
surehow long it will take to heal, I’ve got to see when I wake up after
the op.
“It could be three weeks, it could be a month. I’ll be 100 per cent for next season.”
